Anti-money-laundering controls on foreign-currency cash deposits

Since October 2010, monthly cash deposits in foreign currency above US$3,000 have been subject to additional requirements, including a sworn statement by the depositor as to the lawful origin of the funds (ICS 2024). The ICS records this as a practical friction in handling foreign exchange; it does not affect the right of repatriation, which the same report describes as unrestricted.

This layer is research: read from public sources by the archive's own team, every claim cited with the date it was consulted, and audited where it is marked so. It has not entered the verified store — no figure here was fetched back from its source or stamped with a retrieval time — so it wears no red provenance numeral and never mixes with the verified figures.
