In May 2007 a community consultation in 12 communities of San Juan Sacatepéquez returned 8,994 votes against the cement company and 4 in favor (verified 2026-08-22 in OCMAL). The conflict turned violent: 17 injured (2 seriously) on 3 July 2014 when the resistance in the El Puente sector was evicted; the audit corrected the date, previously given as '2013'.
