Containers handled in 2024

In 2024 Guatemala's ports handled 1,012,329 containers, a record according to the CPN's 2024 Port Statistical Report cited by AGN (verified in audit). A caution on units: the 2024 report gives 'containers' and the 2025 one gives 'TEUs'; these are different measures (a 40-foot container equals 2 TEU), so the two series must not be compared directly without checking them against the CPN PDF.
The research is written in English; quoted figures, source names and the titles of legal instruments stay in the language their source published them in.

This layer is research: read from public sources by the archive's own team, every claim cited with the date it was consulted, and audited where it is marked so. It has not entered the verified store — no figure here was fetched back from its source or stamped with a retrieval time — so it wears no red provenance numeral and never mixes with the verified figures.
