Chimaltenango is one of the five departments where 29-89 textile firms concentrated (1990–2011) according to MSICG; the claim that it has "cotton and wool spinning mills" does not appear in that PDF and was left to be verified after the 2026-08-22 audit. Sacatepéquez appears on EEGSA's list of the most industrialized departments in its service area, on the CA-1 interoceanic corridor. Both lie outside the department of Guatemala, so the CE2 maquila minimum applies (Q3,221.10 monthly base in 2026, about 5.5% below CE1), and Chimaltenango is 50–60 km from the capital. There is no register of plants by municipality; the dossier suggests requesting one from VESTEX.

The research is written in English; quoted figures, source names and the titles of legal instruments stay in the language their source published them in.

Caveat

No register of plants by municipality was found; "spinning mills" in Chimaltenango remain to be verified

This layer is research: read from public sources by the archive's own team, every claim cited with the date it was consulted, and audited where it is marked so. It has not entered the verified store — no figure here was fetched back from its source or stamped with a retrieval time — so it wears no red provenance numeral and never mixes with the verified figures.
