Zona Libre Quetzal (Puerto San José, Escuintla) advertises itself as 4 km from Puerto Quetzal and 90 km from the capital; Tecnopark (km 67.5 of the CA-2, Escuintla) advertises "35 minutes from Puerto Quetzal, 1 hour from the border with El Salvador" — both are promotional claims made by the parks themselves. Puerto Quetzal anchors the Pacific coast, which handles 60% of the country's port traffic (República; verified in the audit of dossier 06); air cargo leaves through La Aurora (GUA), inside Guatemala City. The critical outbound link is the Palín–Escuintla motorway (CA-9 Sur): its concession expired in 2023 and it is now run toll-free by the Ministry of Communications (CIV), with the government studying whether to reinstate the toll. Door-to-door time from Guatemala to the United States (ocean lead time Puerto Quetzal→Los Angeles/Houston) has no citable figure in this pass.

The research is written in English; quoted figures, source names and the titles of legal instruments stay in the language their source published them in.

This layer is research: read from public sources by the archive's own team, every claim cited with the date it was consulted, and audited where it is marked so. It has not entered the verified store — no figure here was fetched back from its source or stamped with a retrieval time — so it wears no red provenance numeral and never mixes with the verified figures.
