Extortion complaints (PNC, compiled by CIEN) and the rate per 100,000 inhabitants: 2012: 5,216 (35.3); 2015: 5,036 (32.3); 2018: 8,678 (53.1); 2019: 14,714 (88.6); 2020: 13,031 (77.3); 2021: 13,288 (77.7); 2022: 14,725 (84.8); 2023: 18,096 (102.8), some 50 complaints a day. The full series was cross-checked against CIEN's PDF in audit; 2019 matches the PNC figure cited by OSAC 2020, and 2022 matches OSAC 2025.
The research is written in English; quoted figures, source names and the titles of legal instruments stay in the language their source published them in.
