The INE projection based on the 2018 census, cited by the Vice-Presidency in the Government Policy 2024-2028, puts the total population at 17,843,132 in 2024: 8,777,379 men and 9,065,753 women. The projected population growth rate is 1.32% for 2024–2025, falling to 1.14% by 2030. The figure is an official projection, not a recent census count.
