700 MHz and 2.5 GHz spectrum auctions and 5G coverage
- Energy, water and telecommunications
- Telecoms, fiber and data centers
- not audited
According to Centroamerica360, the 700 MHz band auction raised ~US$125 M (Claro 2 blocks of 20 MHz; Tigo 1 of 20 MHz) and the 2.5 GHz auction ~US$47 M (Tigo 8 of 10 blocks; Claro 2); the dates and resolutions are not confirmed and the amounts are press figures, pending verification against the SIT. 5G is at an early stage of deployment in 2025-2026, concentrated in Guatemala City, with reports of coverage limited to pockets in zones 10, 14 and 15; both operators sell 5G plans. The reported coverage comes from a secondary source and from Tigo promotional material, so it must be verified.

This layer is research: read from public sources by the archive's own team, every claim cited with the date it was consulted, and audited where it is marked so. It has not entered the verified store — no figure here was fetched back from its source or stamped with a retrieval time — so it wears no red provenance numeral and never mixes with the verified figures.
