Guatemala offers three physical-and-legal vehicles for setting up a plant or a warehouse: (1) free zones under Decree 65-89; (2) ZOLIC and the ZDEEPs (Public Special Economic Development Zones) under Decree 22-73 and its amendments; and (3) private industrial or logistics parks with no special tax regime, which in some cases overlap with a ZDEEP (Michatoya Pacífico among them). As of April 2024 five free zones were operating, all privately run, with 128 user companies (Soy502); as of September 2025 there were three ZDEEPs in operation and open to clients: Puerta del Istmo, Michatoya Pacífico and Zona Libre Quetzal (Prensa Libre). No private park publishes rates: all require a commercial enquiry.

The research is written in English; quoted figures, source names and the titles of legal instruments stay in the language their source published them in.

This layer is research: read from public sources by the archive's own team, every claim cited with the date it was consulted, and audited where it is marked so. It has not entered the verified store — no figure here was fetched back from its source or stamped with a retrieval time — so it wears no red provenance numeral and never mixes with the verified figures.
