The IGM cites as its legal basis the Migration Code (Decree 44-2016, arts. 27, 48, 75–78 and 84), National Migration Authority Agreement No. 04-2019, the Residency Regulation (Directorate General Agreement IGM-016-2025), the Registry of Ordinary Migratory Status (IGM-017-2025) and the fee schedule approved by AMN Agreement No. 005-2023 (IGM-029-2023) as amended. The full immigration fee schedule sits at igm.gob.gt/tarifario-de-extranjeria/, identified but not extracted during the session. The classification of the rentista (which the IGM lists as permanent) still has to be checked against arts. 75–84 of the Code.
