The IGM publishes four further routes to permanent residency: marriage or common-law union with a Guatemalan of at least 1 year's standing (RENAP certificates; US$700); family tie to a Guatemalan (RENAP kinship certificates; US$700); people born in Central America with at least 1 year of temporary residency (apostilled birth certificate plus the temporary residency resolution; US$500); and 5 years as a temporary resident (certification of the 5 years plus a notarial record and a guarantor; US$700, or US$500 for Central Americans). The fees are one-off and come on top of the US$25 application fee.
