Guatemala is a founding member of the Central American Bank for Economic Integration (BCIE). On 17 November 2025 the bank approved a US$100 million line for Banco Promerica Guatemala for micro, small and medium-sized firms, exports and social and middle-income housing (projected at 264 companies and ~19,300 jobs). Through Banrural it channeled US$37.6 million in 2025 to agriculture and smaller firms: PROSEP ~US$25 M of working capital, CAMBio II US$8.4 M and Visionarias US$4.2 M (República, 11 December 2025). Access is intermediated by those banks; the BCIE announced rate reductions in 2025 without publishing a schedule, and the terms for lending directly to the private sector are not published.
