Residencies granted per year and their types

Between January and 12 April 2024 the migration institute (IGM) granted 1,105 residencies (618 temporary, 487 permanent): temporary ones to workers 249, religious workers 239, students 87, refugees 40 and athletes 3; permanent ones to family members 243, by marriage 104, to Central Americans 71, on five-year grounds 38 and to rentistas/pensioners 31. An IGM statement covering 3 January to 19 September (year unconfirmed: 2024 or 2025) reports 3,532 residencies (2,232 temporary, 1,300 permanent): workers 738 (33%), religious workers 680 (30%), students 320, refugees 154, intellectuals 43, athletes 5 and investors 2 (0.09%); permanent ones: family members 652, marriage 288, Central Americans 189, five-year 118 and rentistas/pensioners 53 (4%). Reading: investor residency is marginal in practice — a datum about friction, not about prohibition.
