According to Forbes Centroamérica (3 December 2024), the contact center and BPO sector generates 55,000 direct formal jobs paying up to twice the minimum wage, and 138,000 indirect jobs; it pays an annual wage bill of more than Q11,000 million and contributes Q2,700 million a year in taxes and social security. The sector grew by an average of 17% a year over the past five years and requires around Q40,000 of foreign investment for each new job. In January 2018 AGEXPORT reported 42,000 direct and 126,000 indirect jobs, implying an increase of 13,000 direct positions in almost seven years. This layer is research: read from public sources by the archive's own team, every claim cited with the date it was consulted, and audited where it is marked so. It has not entered the verified store — no figure here was fetched back from its source or stamped with a retrieval time — so it wears no red provenance numeral and never mixes with the verified figures.
