January 2026 recorded 304,118 non-resident visitors (+9%). The first quarter of 2026 totalled 849,363 (+7.4% against 790,716), with March (Holy Week) at 299,298 (+6%). The January–May 2026 cumulative rose by only +14,380 visitors (+1.1%) because May 2026 fell −4%, with a sharp fall from El Salvador (−18,249 visitors) offset by Canada (+52%), Colombia (+30%) and Mexico (+26%). The same report gives an INGUAT security perception index of 92.4 (+6.8%), which is tourists' perception, not a crime rate.
